Weight Loss Surgery Testimonials

Before Lap Band Surgery, I was so depressed because I had tried almost everything to get the weight off, and more importantly to keep it off for the last 20 years. I heard about bariatric surgery three years before I actually decided to try it. My aversion was getting the "fill" and seeing people that had not succeeded - but I also saw people that had succeed and I wanted to know what they did that was different. I was borderline diabetic, on a very strong acid reflux medicine because of GERD, had sleep apnea and just developed high blood pressure. I had no energy to do the things I used to do. I was miserable. I "interviewed" six physicians' programs in the Dallas - Ft. Worth area before I committed to Dr. Stowers. I chose My Bariatric Solutions because 1) Dr. Stowers and his staff took the time to answer my questions and did not make me feel "stupid" for asking, 2) they have the most comprehensive support program of the six I interviewed, explaining the entire process step-by-step, 3) they offer as many fills as necessary during the first year to get started as part of the program, 4) they use the fluoroscope when giving fills so I felt more confident that the correct amount was being given 5) they numb the site before giving a fill and 6) I was also impressed with the Wise Regional Health Systems. I drive 40+ miles right past several other doctors' offices because I am so impressed by the My Bariatric Solutions program. Dr. Stowers, My Bariatric Solutions staff and Wise Regional Health Systems exceeded my expectations. I have lost the weight slowly and feel wonderful and have kept it off easily for over a year. I am off all meds. I still want to lose a little more but I am so much happier than I was before. As my daughter said this past Christmas "I have my mom back". Thank you Dr.Stowers, and My Bariatric Solutions Staff.

Sincerely,

In January 2009 I began the process of preparing for Gastric Bypass Surgery with Dr. Stowers. In July of 2009 we were ready for the big day and embarked on a life changing journey. Since having the surgery I have a new found confidence, a desire to try new and different things, as well as an energized enthusiasm for life. Prior to surgery I never let my weight interfere with things I wanted to do – but never realized how hard those things were due to my weight. Life has become easy since my surgery. Everything has changed – from the things I do to the things I choose to eat. 10 months post-opt I am within 11 pounds of the goal weight Dr. Stowers and I set back in January of 2009 and have never been as content with myself as I am at this point in the journey.

WOW! Having weight loss surgery is just like getting old, "it's not for WIMPS". It's one of the hardest things I have ever done, but it has been worth it! I no longer take medication or have sleep apnea, asthma or diabetes. My health has improved and I feel great! Granted trying to change 50 years of bad eating habits is still a struggle everyday but one that I can manage now. I have lost 130 pounds since my surgery 1 year ago.

I can now shop till I drop with my friends. Before I just drove and sat in the car. I am taking ballroom dancing classes. I can now travel without the fear of having to ask for the seat belt extension. I can walk into any store and buy clothes, and shoes...and I can even tie my shoes, no more Velcro or slips on's. I spend twice as much on dog food now then I do on food for myself. I park in parking spots that are "blocks" away from the Wal-Mart door, and still spend 2 hours shopping up and down each and every isle. I take the stairs when I can instead of the elevator. I am planning a trip to Sea World and Six Flags this summer with my Grandson; I would have never considered taking him to even one of those attractions a year ago.

People that have known me for years don't even recognize me. My ex-husband, to whom I was married to for 30 years walked right past me without recognizing me.

I AM A NEW WOMAN!

Thank you, Dr. Stowers and your wonderful staff at My Bariatric Solutions for changing my life

I am 46 years old and a mother of two beautiful daughters. I have been overweight my whole life. I have struggled with diet after diet losing 20 – 30 lbs and always gaining it back. My parents both weigh over 300 lbs and are both very unhealthy. I knew if I did not do something, this would be me in the future. I wanted so much to be healthy and feel good. I was constantly tired, my feet and legs hurt most of the time, and I never felt like being active. I had several medical issues also HBP, sleep apnea, reflux, and high cholesterol. I now have been able to stop taking my blood pressure and cholesterol medications. Now I feel great!!! I am so happy I had the surgery. It was uncomfortable for a couple weeks, but well worth it. It has been almost 2years and I have lost 65lbs so far. I started out a size 18 and now am in a size 8. I have so much energy I can't believe it. This is the best thing I have ever done for myself!

Dr. Stowers and his staff are wonderful! I have spoken to several people that have had weight loss surgery with other surgeons and they are all amazed at how educated Dr. Stowers wants his patients to be before going through this kind of surgery. This was very important to me. I wanted to know exactly what to expect and how the procedure would be done. I was very well informed about everything before my surgery.

All I can say to someone thinking about having the surgery is, what are you waiting for!

When I first started considering weight loss surgery I was on 15 prescription medications. My diabetes was out of control, arthritis pain in my knees was so bad that I struggled through my days with little hope of improvement. I saw Dr. Stowers who recommended Gastric Bypass Surgery, as did my primary care physician due to diabetes. His caring staff helped me through the qualifying process and my dreams have become a reality. My diabetes is completely resolved and has been since the day after surgery. I am currently taking 4 prescriptions with plans to be off 3 of those very soon. Now being over 100 lbs lighter I get through my days with ease and have energy to spare. My self confidence and self esteem have improved greatly. I enjoy life more and enjoy things that I once hated...like shopping. I'm grateful for Dr. Stowers and his team of professionals who have always treated me with dignity and respect and have helped me reach my weight loss goals. I can't be certain that I have added years to my life..... but I am VERY certain that I have added LIFE TO MY YEARS!

Two years ago I went on an adventure, an adventure that saved my life. I weighed 251 pounds at beginning of this adventure. I have lost 121 pounds thanks to Dr. Stowers.

I was skeptical at first, but I am here to tell you it really works if you work at it. I have gone from a size 24 to a size 4. It wasn't easy, but nothing is.

Today I feel beautiful, happy, and content. I enjoy every day and look at life so differently, because wow I have a life!

I have struggled with weight issues ranging from being mildly overweight to being morbidly obese most of my adult life. I became diabetic in my early 40's and had struggled with yo-yo dieting and was in and out of control with the Diabetes over many years. I was taking two different prescriptions for Diabetes. The doctor had told me that I was at the stage where I would need to be starting on insulin to help control the blood sugar and that is when I decided to consider bariatric surgery. Within one month of having the gastric sleeve surgery, my blood sugar was back in the normal range and I no longer have abnormal blood glucose testings. My A1C blood tests have been normal since the surgery. I have still got about 15-20 pounds that I need to lose but I have not had the up's and downs with my weight like I've experienced with every other diet I've tried over my adult life. I have never maintained any weight loss for any extended period and I have maintained almost a 70 pound weight loss for the past year. Dr. Stowers and the My Bariatric Solutions team have been wonderful to work with. This is a tool that has helped me with portion control. As long as I follow the guidelines set by My Bariatric Solutions and exercise, I have had no trouble maintaining my weight. Kyle Rose has been helpful and has encouraged me to seek out a personal trainer to help me with those last few pounds that seem to be so stubborn to let go. I'm looking forward to my 2-year anniversary in July of this year. It was the best decision I have made for my health and am very happy with my experience with My Bariatric Solutions.
