Dr. Scott Stowers and Dr. Dirk Rodriguez at Bariatric Solutions offer several bariatric surgery options:  LAP-BAND® System surgery, REALIZE™ Band, Roux-en-Y Gastric Bypass surgery, and Gastric Sleeve surgery.  These surgeries facilitate weight loss using restrictive techniques, which limit the amount of food the stomach can hold, and/or malabsorptive techniques, which inhibit absorption of calories.  Our team will work with you to determine whether you are a candidate for obesity surgery and, if you are, provide you with the information necessary so that you can choose the weight loss surgery that best meets your needs.

LAP-BAND® System Surgery

LAP-BAND® System surgery, or adjustable gastric banding, is a laparoscopic procedure in which an adjustable gastric band is placed around the stomach, thereby reducing its size.  The band is adjustable and removable, and neither the stomach nor the intestines are surgically altered.  LAP-BAND® System surgery may be appropriate for patients who are concerned about the risks associated with other bariatric surgery options.  Read More>

REALIZE™ Band Solution Surgery

The REALIZE™ Band Solution surgery, is a laparascopic procedure that places an adjustable gastric band around the uppermost part of the stomach, dividing it into two parts: a small upper pouch and a lower stomach. Roux-en-Y Gastric Bypass Surgery

Roux-en-Y Gastric Bypass surgery is the most frequently performed weight loss surgery in the U.S.  It involves using a stapler to create a small stomach pouch at the top of the stomach, then it is directly connected to the middle portion of the small intestine (jejunum) bypassing the larger portion of the stomach and the upper portion of the small intestine (duodenum).  Since the procedure is both restrictive and malabsorptive, it is highly effective in helping patients achieve weight loss as well as appetite control. Gastric Sleeve Surgery

Gastric Sleeve surgery, or Sleeve Gastrectomy, is a restrictive procedure that involves removal of part of the stomach.  The size of the stomach is therefore reduced, which limits the amount of food a patient can eat.  The small intestine remains intact, which minimizes nutritional deficiencies.
