Board certified in osteopathic surgery and general surgery, Dr. Scott Stowers is the medical director of Bariatric Solutions and has been practicing in Wise County for more than 14 years. Dr. Stowers focuses on the minimally invasive, laparoscopic approach to bariatric surgery, which involves fewer risks of complication than traditional surgical techniques, as well as a quicker recovery process.

Dr. Stowers has established a program to help you fight obesity every step of the way. As the medical director of Bariatric Solutions, Dr. Scott Stowers has trained in some of the most respected institutions in the nation. After graduating from Southwestern Oklahoma State University, he earned his Doctor of Osteopathy at the Texas College of Osteopathic Medicine. This was followed by a medical internship at the Dallas / Fort Worth Medical Center. Dr. Stowers completed his residency in general surgery at the Dallas / Fort Worth Medical Center, ultimately serving as Chief Resident from 1991 to 1992.

Dr. Scott Stowers is licensed to practice medicine by the state of Texas.  Dr. Scott Stowers is a member of many prestigious medical organizations, signifying his commitment to excellence and the recognition of his peers as a quality bariatric surgeon. They include:

Dirk Rodriguez, M.D.

Dr. Dirk Rodriguez is a board-certified surgeon with over 20 years experience in the art and science of surgery. In 2005, he helped establish one of the first Centers of Excellence in weight loss surgery in Texas. He then set up a second center of excellence in Cincinnati, Ohio in 2007. He has performed over 4,000 weight loss operations like the LAP-BAND® Adjustable Gastric Banding, REALIZE™ Band, Sleeve Gastrectomy surgery and Roux-en-Y Gastric Bypass,. He has extensive experience not only in the field of Bariatric surgery but also in the fields of general surgery, trauma surgery, vascular surgery and laparoscopic hernia surgery. His Laparoscopic Hernia technique is a great alternative to painful open hernia surgery on the groin or the abdomen and many of his patients are back to work in days instead of weeks.

As a former military surgeon and decorated flight officer in the United States Air Force he is a nationally recognized leader in surgery. He serves as a consultant to various companies that create and advance technologies used in minimally invasive operations. Dr. Rodriguez’ commitment to patient success and the advancement of bariatric surgery is evident as he runs his busy private practice, he also makes the time to write scientific articles in surgery and has teaches surgery techniques to countless surgeons in the United States and all over the world (Spain, Brazil, Australia, and Puerto Rico).

Dr. Rodriguez also performs the highly publicized Single Incision Laparoscopic Surgery (SILS), where the operation is done through one small incision on the patients’ belly. He’s done this for LAP-BAND®, vertical sleeve gastrectomy and gallbladder surgery. This is a great option for those patients who want absolutely minimal scarring!

Dr. Rodriguez combines education about obesity surgery, nutrition and exercise programs to help his patients succeed in improving and regaining their health. As Dr. Rodriguez cares deeply for his patients, he makes sure they get the treatment they deserve.
